The Port Royal is located on the wide, clean, safe and free beach in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. But if poolside is more your style, grab a chaise and relax on our oceanfront sun deck surrounding our heated hourglass-shaped pool… and the kids can frolic in their own kiddie pool (also heated). Snacks are available on the canopy-covered poolside patio, so you can grab a bite without losing sight of the ocean!

There's never a dull moment for the kids at the Port Royal Hotel. We have a game room filled with the latest electronic/video games, pool tables and a ping pong table. We host supervised children's activities (in season) and, of course, all of the rides and attractions of the exciting Wildwood Boardwalk are nearby.

When you're ready to dine in style, you'll love our '50s Doo-Wop themed Royal Grille, located right on the lobby level of the Port Royal Hotel. Plus, there are scores of fabulous dining choices located within walking distance of the hotel or in nearby shore towns from Victorian Cape May to Atlantic City with its famous casino resorts.

The Wildwoods

The Wildwoods is an island made up of three prominent sections: North Wildwood, located just north of the center of Wildwood with Wildwood Crest, which is just to the south. With year-round events, miles of wide, white sandy beaches, a fun-filled boardwalk and endless places to play, shop and eat, The Wildwoods is a great place to vacation!


Beaches

New Jersey maintains the highest standards in ocean water quality of any state in the country and was rated "New Jersey's Best Sport Beach" by Travel Holiday Magazine. Beachgoers can glide along the sand of The Wildwood’s expansive beaches on the State's first beach tram, introduced in 1994, traveling from the street to the shoreline.

Boardwalk

The 38-block Wildwood boardwalk is lined with amusement piers, water parks, specialty shops, theaters, eateries and restaurants. This 2.5 mile wooden walkway has something for kids of all ages. Ride a bike along the promenade from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., take a leisurely stroll or ride the tram cars while enjoying a breathtaking view of the Atlantic.

What to Do

Shopping is abundant in the Wildwoods from the Holly Beach Mall to the merchants on New Jersey Avenue merchants. The summer air is filled with oldies music dockside, rock and roll at the clubs and ethnic sing-a-longs all over town. During the summer season, an estimated 2 million visitors come to the Wildwoods.

Of course, the kids go crazy for the non-stop action on Morey's Piers – three incredible piers offering seven world-class roller coasters, two huge beachfront waterparks and family rides galore.

Attractions

The Wildwoods are centrally located between Atlantic City (50-minute drive) and Historic Cape May (10-minute drive). The Cape May County zoo, museums, tennis, golf, horseback riding and coach rides are all within easy distance. General tourist information can be gathered by calling 1-800-WW-BY-SEA.

Architecture

The Wildwoods is known for the prevalence of Doo Wop architecture complete with the angular architecture, neon lighting and happy days' colors reminiscent of the 1950’s.

Watersports/Fishing

The Wildwoods are second to none when it comes to watersports and fishing cruise fleets. There are a variety of crafts offering half-day and full-day fishing excursions in New Jersey's back bays and the Atlantic Ocean. Jet skiing, water skiing, boating and whale watching are bountiful in the inland waterways or along most docks in the Wildwoods.

Transportation

The Wildwoods are accessible by car (Parkway exit 6-4B), motor coach (New Jersey Transit) and ferry (Cape May Lewes Ferry) from all shore points. There is an island-wide bus and trolley service to whisk vacationers to their daily activities.
